Portuguese newspaper A Bola has learned that Uruguayan full-back Jorge Fucile is set to quit FC Porto in the January transfer window.
The player who has been at the club since 2006 was dropped from the squad after falling out with coach Paulo Fonseca and is now eager to leave the Dragons in search of first team football.
And while the 29-year-old will be free to leave the club when his contract expires at the end of the season, he is hoping to move clubs in January so that he could play his way back into the plans of Uruguay boss Oscar Tabarez ahead of the 2014 World Cup.
And the player’s official representative has revealed that the Dragons are unlikely to stand in his client’s way as he ponders a January exit.
“Things are going well. The club have shown understanding and are willing to fully cooperate with Fucile,” agent Pablo Tamaduz explained to A Bola. “Their interest is to help him, not hurt him.”
Jorge Fucile has made a total of 118 league appearances for Porto, winning a total of four league titles with the Portuguese giants.
