Newcastle United have accepted Fulham’s bid of £20million for Aleksandar Mitrović, according to Sky Sports.
The Serb has been out of favour at Newcastle for a while now. He spent the second half of last season playing on loan for Fulham in the Championship, helping them gain promotion to the Premier League by scoring 12 goals in 20 games in their shirt. Fulham manager, his compatriot Slaviša Jokanović seems to have been impressed with the effort Mitrović kept putting in during that loan spell and he is determined to make the deal permanent.
The initial negotiations between the two clubs had hit a stumbling block with their valuations of the striker not matching. Fulham apparently offered £16million while the Magpies wanted £18million. In the end, a slightly higher offer seems to have been enough for the prospective buyers to clinch the deal and make Mitrović their full-time employee.
Mitrović has left Newcastle’s training camp in Portugal to finalize the move.
