Catania sporting director Pietro Lo Monaco says Fulham have made a bid for striker Maxi Lopez.
Fulham have been struggling for goals recently, with just 22 in their 20 Premier League matches this season.
There has also been talk of a rift between manager Martin Jol and striker Bobby Zamora, who came off the bench to score the winner against Arsenal on Sunday.
Reports suggests that Zamora might leave Craven Cottage in January and there has also been speculation surrounding Andy Johnson’s future, meaning there could be space for another striker to join Moussa Dembele, Bryan Ruiz and Orlando Sa in the squad.
Former Barcelona and River Plate man Lopez was expected to join AC Milan in the transfer window, but that move appears to be off.
However, Lo Monaco has said that Fulham are not the only club to show an interest in the 27-year-old Argentine.
“On Maxi Lopez there are no developments as yet, but an offer has been received from Fulham and we are evaluating it,” Lo Monaco told Radio Mana Mana.
“We are waiting to see what the Italian clubs will do.”
“AC Milan are definitely out, while we will see what happens with Fiorentina. Lazio? I don’t think they need Maxi.”
