The talks between Fulham and Newcastle United are progressing well, and the London club are confident about the deal being done this summer, according to Sky Sports.
Crystal Palace are also interested in signing the Serbia international with Christian Benteke having a terrible 2017/18 season, but it is understood Mitrović would prefer to continue his successful stint with Fulham. He spent the second half of last season on loan at Craven Cottage, scoring 12 goals that helped them earn Premier League promotion, and enjoyed a good relationship with his compatriot manager Slaviša Jokanović.
Newcastle are apparently ready to sell the striker for a reported price of £20million and they are already considering a swoop for Nice striker Alessane Plea, who is also on Fulham’s radar, as a potential replacement for Mitrović.
Mitrović was on target in Serbia’s final game of the World Cup, a defeat to Switzerland which saw the “Eagles” get eliminated from the tournament.
