LONDON (AFP) – Belgium international forward Moussa Dembele on Wednesday joined Fulham from Dutch side AZ Alkmaar for a fee of 6.5 million euros, the English club announced on their website.
The creative 23-year-old, who has scored five goals in 28 games for the Belgian national side, has signed a three-year contract and becomes new Fulham coach Mark Hughes’s first signing.
Dembele won the 2008-09 Dutch title with AZ and could make his debut when Manchester United visit Craven Cottage next weekend.
“I am very happy to join Fulham and look forward to training with the team to prepare for the first home game of the season,” Dembele told the Fulham website.
“It has always been a dream to play in the Premier League and I will make sure that I make the most of this opportunity.”
Hughes said: “Moussa is strong and quick and will add another dimension to our attacking options, which is important for us.
“I look forward to working with him, and to hopefully, a few more additions before the window closes.”
