According to The Times, Fulham are ready to push hard to sign Aleksandar Mitrović from Newcastle on a permanent basis.
The Serbian international spent the second half of last season on loan at Craven Cottage and made 20 appearances for the team lead by his compatriot Slaviša Jokanović. His role in their successful bid for Premier League promotion was an important one as he found the net 12 times.
Newcastle value the striker at £20million, while manager Rafa Benitez has apparently been told he must be willing to part with players in order to sign new ones.
Mitrović started all three games Serbia played in the World Cup in Russia and scored his only goal in the controversial defeat to Switzerland with a fifth-minute header. His involvement in the tournament is now over as the ‘Eagles’ also lost to Brazil in the last round of the group stage and failed to qualify for the knockout stages, despite beating Costa Rica in their opener.
