Fulham yet to contact Eriksson or Jones

English Premier League club Fulham have yet to approach Sven-Goran Eriksson or Cardiff boss Dave Jones about the vacant manager’s job at Craven Cottage.

The Cottagers have just three weeks to find a new boss before the start of the Premier League season on August 14 after conceding defeat in their bid to sign Ajax coach Martin Jol.

Eriksson and Jones are reported to be top of Fulham’s wanted list as they seek to replace Roy Hodgson but neither have received an offer yet.

Former England coach Eriksson took charge of Ivory Coast at the World Cup, but is currently out of contract and could be tempted to return to the Premier League, according to his agent Athole Still.

Eriksson is still smarting over the manner of his sacking by Manchester City in 2008 and Still told Radio Five Live: “It’s a very attractive club, not just for Sven-Goran Eriksson.

“We’ve know for several weeks that Sven was one of the managers under consideration for the job. But there has been no interview, no discussion whatsoever.

“Of course he has unfinished business in the Premier League. He was in my view outrageously sacked from his position.

“He did a first-class job with Manchester City. It was a personal non-compatibility with (former chairman) Thaksin Shinawatra which caused him to be sacked.

While Eriksson could still emerge as a candidate, Championship club Cardiff have not been contacted by Fulham over Jones’s availability.

Jones led Cardiff to the Championship play-off final last season before defeat to Blackpool at Wembley denied the Bluebirds a place in the Premier League.

A statement from Cardiff read: “Neither the club or the manager have received an approach from Fulham Football Club regarding the vacant manager’s job at Craven Cottage.

“As ever, he is 100 percent concentrating on preparing the team for the new season.”
