(GSM) – Fulham’s Dickson Etuhu is happy at securing a place in the final four of the UEFA Europa League by beating Wolfsburg in the Volkswagen Arena on Thursday.
“We’re very happy to be in the Semi-Final,” he said.
“It was a tough game against Wolfsburg, we got an early goal that got us more relaxed and we could have scored more goals. I thought we did well, we knew what Wolfsburg would be all about. The Manager obviously watched videos of them, we were really prepared and the lads did really well.”
Having taken the lead after only 21 seconds, the Whites were not content to just sit back and protect their aggregate advantage – instead the Team actively pushed forward in search of more goals.
“The Manager did say to us at half-time that we have to keep going forward,” Dickson explained.
“He didn’t want us to just defend and then knock it long. We should play the football that we play every day on the training field – and that’s what we did. It worked and we could have scored a few other goals but we’re happy with the one-nil.”
With chances at both ends it was certainly an exciting game to watch and, as Etuhu explained, taking part in the encounter was also an action-packed experience.
“It was all action, we had to work very hard especially in the midfield – there were a lot of battles in there,” he said.
“We’re delighted with the win and now we look ahead to the next game which is on Sunday against Liverpool. We’re just going to go out there and try to win the game. That’s what the Manager drills into us and it’s a credit to him and the coaching staff, Mike Kelly and Ray [Lewington], they drill into us the way they want us to play. We practise that every day and it’s obviously showing – they’re great coaches and we’re improving as players. “
“We keep breaking records at this Club and we’re enjoying it. Every player is enjoying every minute at Fulham. I’ve enjoyed my last two years here and just want to keep going,” he happily stated.
