Flamengo striker Gabriel Barbosa is open to joining Newcastle United in the January transfer window, according to 90min. Newcastle have held preliminary talks over a deal for the 25-year-old Brazil international striker and are ready to made a bid.

Newcastle are in the bottom three of the Premier League table at the moment and are in real danger of getting relegated to the Championship at the end of the season. Callum Wilson is injured at the moment, and manager Eddie Howe does need a new striker.
