Real Madrid midfielder Fernando Gago is likely to make a permanent switch to Roma at the end of the season, according to his agent.
The Argentine joined the Giallorossi on loan from Real Madrid last summer and has since 30 Serie A appearances and one goal.
Even if Luis Enrique, a coach who signed him last summer, has left the club, the player is hoping to make his loan deal permanent at the end of the season.
“There won’t be any particular problems,” representative Marcello Lombilla told Tele Radio Stereo. “Everything should be sorted out next week.
“Director general Franco Baldini will speak to Real. Gago wants to stay at Roma and Real want to sell him.”
It remains to be seen whether the two clubs will be able to agree on the transfer price, although the fact the player is no longer in Jose Mourinho’s plans should help during the negotiations.
The 26-year-old has managed to earn a regular starting berth at Roma in spite of the heavy competition for starting places, and it is believed the Giallorossi will jump at the opportunity to sign him at a cut-back price at the end of the season.
