Galatasaray closing in on Sagna

Galatasaray have claimed that they are close to securing a deal for Arsenal full-back Bacary Sagna, according to the Daily Star.

The France international has been linked with a move away from the Emirates all season, with Arsene Wenger reluctant to offer any of his players over 30 more than a one-year contract extension.

The Gunners boss is keen for the 31 year old to remain at the club, but a lucrative offer from the Turkish Super Lig champions may tempt him away.

Roberto Mancini’s side currently sit third in the league, and have kept and impressive six straight clean sheets in all competitions, though the former Manchester City boss is keen to add to his defence, which includes Sagna’s former Arsenal teammate Emmanuel Eboue.

Arsenal paid £8m to Auxerre for Sagna in the summer of 2007, and he has gone on to make over 260 appearances for the club.
