According to Fabrizio Romano, Galatasaray have contacted Southampton over the possibility of signing Kyle Walker-Peters.
The Saints would obviously like to keep their first-choice right-back as they fight what seems to be a losing battle to survive in the Premier League. However, Walker-Peters’ contract expires at the end of the season and they are aware that as their relegation comes closer to imminent, they won’t be able to convince the 27-year-old to sign a new deal. Therefore, they would be open to selling this month for the right price.
Walker-Peters is a product of the Tottenham Hotspur academy. He joined Southampton on an initial six-month loan in January 2020, and the transfer was made permanent the following summer for a reported fee of around £12 million. In all competitions, he has represented the south-coast club on 189 occasions, scoring five goals and producing 11 assists.
Walker-Peters also has two caps as an England international to his name, which is quite respectable given the number of high-quality options the Three Lions have had in his position over the last couple of years.
