AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani has hit back at criticism of the Italian champions after a disappointing start to the season.
Massimiliano Allegri’s men have dropped points against Napoli, Lazio, Juventus and Udinese already this term, but bounced back on Saturday with a convincing 3-0 win over Palermo, and Galliani feels his team are no worse than their title rivals.
“I’ve heard far too many things that I have not liked around AC Milan lately,” Galliani told Il Corriere dello Sport.
“We are talking about a club that have won 28 trophies in the last 25 years.”
“If I had to go along with all the talk, I would be saying that the three points against Palermo were useful in staving off relegation, that we are poor because we bought players like (Alberto) Aquilani and (Antonio) Nocerino, while Napoli and Juventus spent money perfectly.”
“This is not right. I don’t understand this attitude and I do not agree with it.”
Following Saturday’s victory, Milan sit in 13th place in Serie A, four points behind leaders Juventus.
Their next fixture is against Belarusian outfit BATE Borisov in the Champions League on Wednesday.
