Atletico Madrid striker Kevin Gameiro has poured cold water on speculation linking him with a summer move to Marseille.
It is no secret that l’OM are on the lookout for a world-class striker and the Frenchman’s name has been bandied about.
However, Gameiro has made it clear that he is not keen on a move to Stade Veldrome due to his Paris Saint-Germain ties, while also hinting he would prefer to stay in Spain for the remainder of his career.
“Sign for OM? It would be quite complicated. I played for PSG and I feel Parisian, it is very difficult to go to a club like Marseille,” Gameiro told Canal +.
“And, I feel very good in Spain, I hope to finish my career in Spain.”
Following a somewhat disappointing spell with Paris Saint-Germain, the 29-year-old went on to enjoy three very successful seasons with Sevilla and eventually moved to Vicente Calderon last summer.
The striker has since bagged 14 goals in 24 starts in all competitions, and it appears that he will be staying with Atletico Madrid for the foreseeable future.
