As Real Madrid took to the pitch at the Parc Des Princes to take on Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League opener on Wednesday, Raphael Varane handed the club banner to Gareth Bale to hold it as they took the team photo. The Welshman, who was heavily linked with departure from the club during the summer and whose future still remains a subject for speculation, looked bewildered at what Varane was doing and simply passed the banner on to Dani Carvajal, as if it was something he didn’t want to touch.
