Gasperini: I see Sneijder as a forward

Inter boss Gian Piero Gasperini has revealed that he plans to use Wesley Sneijder as a forward in his 3-4-3 formation.

Featuring in a playmaker role last term, the Dutch international is now forced to adapt to the new formation and even though he was expected to drop to centre midfield, it looks as though Sneijder will be deployed as a forward by Gian Pero Gasperini.

“I see Sneijder as a forward,” Gasperini said at a press conference on Saturday.

“He is one of the most important players in the world right now and I hope he can have an exceptional campaign.

“We do have a large squad and I consider Sneijder to be a forward, although obviously he can be used in different roles when needed.

“We have numerous options and this is why I have great faith in this team.”
