A number of Serie A clubs are prepared to offer Southampton midfielder Gaston Ramirez a chance to return to Italy, according to Daily Mirror.
The 22-year-old has fallen behind Adam Lallana and Jay Rodriguez in the pecking order and has failed to start a single Premier League game this season.
The Uruguayan is worried that the lack of first team football will hurt his chances of making Uruguay’s World Cup squad, that is if La Celeste win their play-off tie against Jordan.
Ramirez is, therefore, hoping to leave the Saints in the January transfer window, with a return to Italian Serie A a realistic possibility.
Napoli, Inter Milan and Lazio are reportedly set to offer the 22-year-old an escape route from the Stadium of Light.
Prior to joining Southampton, Ramirez had largely impressed during two seasons at Bologna and he is still held in high regard by top Serie A sides.
