AC Milan head coach Gennaro Gattuso has confirmed the club’s interest in signing Luis Muriel on loan from Sevilla, according to Corriere dello Sport.
Speaking after Milan’s Serie A win over Spal on Saturday, the 2006 World Cup winner said he wasn’t certain Milan would sign Muriel, but it was something they had been thinking and talking about. Gattuso believes his team need a versatile attacker, one that could play out wide, as a second striker or be the focal point up front, and he sees the 27-year-old Sevilla man as a player that fits that description. Apart from that, he also says his team need another midfielder.
The negotiations between the two clubs are underway, and while Sevilla are looking to recoup half of €21.5million that they paid Sampdoria forMuriel’s services in 2017, for a six-month loan and an obligation for Milan to buy at the end of that period, Milan hope they will manage to agree a deal without such a clause.
