Crystal Palace have opened talks with Dwight Gayle over a new contract, according to the Guardian.
The striker had been linked with a summer move away from Selhurst Park following the arrivals of Patrick Bamford and Connor Wickham, with Bristol City and Norwich City both tabling bids for the former Peterborough United man.
However, he has remained with the Eagles and has gone on to score four goals in five appearances this season including a hat-trick in last week’s League Cup third round victory over Charlton Athletic.
In total, he has twenty-two goals in sixty appearances in all competitions, though his start in Sunday’s win over Watford was his first in the league this season.
He will hope to keep his place in the starting line-up as Alan Pardew’s side host West Bromwich Albion in Saturday’s early kick-off, where the home win can be backed at a price 4/5.
