Gbamin heading for Everton

According to a recent report from Sky Sports News, Everton are on the verge of signing Jean Phillippe Gbamin from German side Mainz. The midfielder has been tipped to replace Idrissa Gueye who recently left French champions Paris Saint-Germain, with Gbamin passing his medical earlier on today. The belief is that he is going to cost Everton a fee of around £25 million which, in itself, is a pretty significant statement of intent. They clearly want people to know that they’re serious about making a push for the top six this season, and one way or another, they believe they’re going to get what they deserve.

Gbamin had been linked with a move away from Mainz for quite some time but it never seemed like the appropriate offer came in. Now, it seems like that has all changed – but the question remains as to whether or not he’ll be able to succeed and thrive for the Toffees.
