(GSM) – Genk maintained their perfect record in the Belgian Pro League, beating Lierse 4-1 on Sunday to defend their lead.
The pressure of adding a fifth consecutive win had little effect on Genk, who had no difficulties taking distance from Lierse, who are yet to earn their first point this season.
Jelle Vosse scored the opening goal after only two minutes and went on to add a second in the 17th minute.
Jurgen Cavens pulled one back for Lierse on 67th minute but it was not enough for his team to fight their way back into the game. Late goals from Fabien Camus and Marvin Ogunjimi set the final score to 4-1.
Gent reconquered their third place with a 1-0 win over Germinal Beerschot, while Club Brugge beat Westerlo 1-2 to move into ninth position with six points from five games.
