Genoa boss Gian Piero Gasperini has resigned himself to losing forward Giuseppe Sculli.
“Giuseppe Sculli is essentially now an Inter player,” confessed Gian Piero Gasperini. “He is getting ready to leave. Sculli is essentially now an Inter player.”
The 29-year-old is seen as a replacement for Mario Balotelli, who is set to leave for Manchester City. Even though Inter officials deny making the bid for the Genoa forward, the deal is close to be completed.
“We have not tabled any offer for Genoa’s Giuseppe Sculli,” technical director Marco Branca had assured on Wednesday.
Giuseppe Sculli is the product of Juventus’ youth school but he was never handed a chance to shine at Olimpico and as a result he was constantly sent on loan before signing for Genoa in 2007. During the last three years he become one of the key players in Gian Piero Gasperini’s side, and managed to score 18 goals in 106 games for Genoa.
