Genoa interested in Sokratis

According to a recent report from Sky Italy, Genoa have officially confirmed their interest in Arsenal defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos.

Sokratis has entered into the final six months of his contract at the Emirates with many fans believing he is one of the players within the first team squad who needs to leave in the name of the Gunners moving forward under Mikel Arteta’s leadership.

Real Betis are currently viewed as the favourites to secure his signature but given the fact we’ve still got a few weeks left in the January transfer window, there’s a good chance this transfer isn’t going to be all said and done for a while yet.

Sokratis has a lot of qualities that would appeal to a series of top clubs across European football but for whatever reason, he hasn’t been able to showcase that on a consistent basis in North London, opening the door for his departure.
