Genoa sack coach Gasperini

Gian Piero Gasperini was sacked as coach of Serie A side Genoa on Monday after four years at the helm, the president of the club Enrico Preziosi announced.

Gasperini – whose side slipped to 14th in the table after their second successive defeat by Palermo on Sunday – has been replaced by Davide Ballardini, who was sacked by Lazio in February.

Gasperini is the second Serie A coach to lose his job – Bologna sacked Franco Colomba jsut before the season started.

Genoa host Bologna on Wednesday.
