Serie A club Genoa have announced they have agreed a deal to sign Fiorentina winger Juan Manuel Vargas.
The Grifone have released an official statement on their website confirming that the transfer would soon be completed.
“Genoa are close to signing Peruvian international Juan Manuel Vargas, who spent the last four seasons at Acf Fiorentina,” the statement read.
“The agreements have been reached and, save for complications, will be ratified after the remaining paperwork is completed.”
The Peruvian international will undergo a medical in Genoa on Thursday and if all goes well he will take part in the training session later today.
The 28-year-old has long ago expressed his desire to leave the club, with his chances of securing a first team place further damaged by the heavy summer recruitment at Artemio Franchi.
The Peruvian has quickly gone from a key footballer for Viola to an unwanted footballer at Artemio Franchi, and he will certainly be happy to be given a new chance to kick-start his career.
Since making a €12 million move to Fiorentina from Catania back in July 2008, Vargas has scored a total of 17 goals in 104 Serie A appearances for the club.
