(GSM) – Gent are the first team to be certain of a spot in the final of the Belgian Cup after a 1-0 win over Mechelen in Thursday’s semi final.

The first leg, played early last month, ended in a 2-2 draw and left Mechelen with a difficult task for the second leg.

Gent made things even harder for their opponents as Elimane Coulibaly scored what turned out to be the only goal in the 38th minute.

The hosts did go a man down in the second half as Adnan Custovic collected his second yellow card in the 65th minute, but his absence would not affect the scoreline.

In the final, Gent face the winner of the other semi final tie between Roeselare and Cercle Brugge. The latter won the first leg 3-0 and are most likely to advance.
