Former Celtic forward Georgios Samaras has joined Real Zaragoza on a free transfer, the Spanish club have announced.
The Greek footballer became a free agent when Rayo OKC pulled out from the NASL competition, leaving all players to search for new clubs.
And even though he was linked with a January move to Hibernian, Samaras eventually decided to accept an offer from Real Zaragoza.
This will be the player’s first foray into Spanish football, although he will be plying his trade in the second division.
Samaras had made a name for himself at Heerenveen and he went on to become a club icon for Glasgow Celtic after the somewhat unsuccessful spell with Manchester City.
The 31-year-old hasn’t done too well since leaving the Bhoys on a free transfer in the summer of 2014, and he will be hoping to get his career back on track after disappointing stints with West Brom, Al Hilal and Rayo OKC.
