Germany international Per Mertesacker has confirmed that he wants to remain at Bundesliga side Werder Bremen.
The 25-year-old defender has been linked with a move to Premier League side Arsenal after impressing for Germany at the World Cup in South Africa.
“I’m staying at Bremen,” Mertesacker told German daily Bild.
“There have been so many rumours concerning me, but I’ve never had to be concerned because none were concrete.”
Mertesacker joined Werder Bremen from Hannover 96 after impressing for Germany at the 2006 World Cup and his contract with the club is set to expire in the summer of 2012.
