Competition: World Cup
Market: Germany to qualify for the World Cup final
Odds: 10/11 @ Ladbrokes
Germany are being backed by a selection of bookmakers to finally get their World Cup revenge against the side who beat them to lift the 2002 World Cup trophy. It remains the only time the two nations have met in the prestigious tournament, and the two sides are split across the board, such is how much Tuesday’s meeting hangs in the balance.
Brazil are the host nation and were the pre-tournament favourites, but come up against a Germany side looking a bit more convincing this summer. The Eagles have three clean sheets from their five games played this summer, winning four of them.
As a result, Ladbrokes are backing them to see past Brazil through extra or penalties if needs be, despite their manager Joachim Low being a bit more cautious.
“We have no titles yet as a team. Titles are marvellous and many of our players have already won many. That is important for them, something special, but for us first and foremost it is a matter of playing the semi-final, which is going to be difficult,” he said.
