Germany were on course for the World Cup quarter-finals in South Africa on Sunday as they led England 2-1 at half-time of their second round match.
Germany took a 2-0 lead with goals through Miroslav Klose and Lukas Podolski before Matthew Upson reduced the deficit — the winners will play either Argentina or Mexico in the quarter– finals.
England should have been level when a Frank Lampard shot crossed the line after hitting the crossbar, but the linesman waved play on.
