Germany midfielder Simon Rolfes is set to make his first appearance in the Bundesliga for eight months on Wednesday as he returns from a knee injury.
The 28-year-old, who is set to face Eintracht Frankfurt in the German league, injured his right knee at the start of the year which forced him out of the World Cup and he made his last Bundesliga appearance on January 24.
Leverkusen coach Jupp Heynckes said he expects to give Rolfes some match time against Frankfurt, but will ease the 21-time capped midfielder back into action.
“He is still not yet the Simon Rolfes we know. He will play perhaps a half,” said Heynckes on Tuesday.
“He is an important member of our team and I am very happy to get him back.”
Heynckes has already been denied the services of Germany captain Michael Ballack and striker Stefan Kiessling after the pair picked up knee and ankle injuries respectively in recent weeks.
