Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard has recovered from a groin injury which kept him sidelined for the match against Sunderland (1-0 loss). The Reds` captain will be able to play in the crucial Champions League match against Olympique Lyon, on Tuesday.
On Monday, Gerrard returned to group training for the first time since suffering his injury while on England duty.
Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez, was happy that his captain had recovered.
`Steven is fit. He has been training so hopefully he will be available tomorrow,` he said.
`It is important as we have had some problems with injuries since the start of the season, so having Gerrard fit is a big boost for us.`
Benitez will have to do without his top attacker Fernando Torres against Lyon though the Spanish manager hopes the striker may be fit to face Manchester United on Sunday.
`Torres is still not ready. Hopefully, he will be for the weekend, but not for this game,` said Benitez.
Lyon leads Liverpool`s Champions League group and a defeat would seriously damage the Reds` chances of progression.
