Gerrard pens new Liverpool deal

Steven Gerrard has signed a new two year contract with Liverpool, according to the Telegraph.

The midfielder’s previous deal was set to expire next summer, though he has now committed himself to the Reds until 2015, beyond his 35th birthday.

Negotiations between the player and the club had been taking place since the end of last season, though there was little doubt that the England captain would extend his playing career with the club having previously said that he expects to remain at Anfield until he retires.

The 33 year old is by far the most decorated of all the current Liverpool players having won two FA Cups, three League Cups, the UEFA Cup, two UEFA Super Cups and the Champions League, as well as a whole host of individual honours since making his debut in 1998.

He will play in his testimonial against Olympiakos at Anfield on August 3rd.
