Steven Gerrard has pulled out of England's friendly against Germany on Wednesday after tearing a leg muscle in Liverpool's win over Bolton.
Gerrard has been ruled out for seven to 10 days, but could return in time for Liverpool's next game against Fulham at Anfield on Saturday.
Liverpool spokesman Ian Cotton said: “Steven picked up an injury in Saturday's game at Bolton.
“A scan has confirmed a tear in the adductor magnus muscle in his right leg, and he is expected to be out between seven to 10 days.”
Gerrard is the third high-profile England star to withdraw from Fabio Capello's squad for the trip to Berlin.
Manchester United duo Rio Ferdinand and Wayne Rooney had already been ruled out with injuries, while captain John Terry faces a scan on a foot injury that could force him to withdraw.
