Gervinho completes move to Roma

Roma have completed signing of Ivory Coast international Gervinho from Arsenal, the Mail Online understands.

The 26 year old had failed to make a real impression in North London since signing from Lille in 2011, scoring just nine goals in forty-six league appearances.

His form in France was far superior, with fifteen goals in Lille’s title winning 2010/11 campaign enough to convince the Gunners boss to secure his services.

Roma manager Rudi Garcia is delighted to have secured Gervinho’s services, having been the man in charge during the player’s time at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy.

The attacker becomes the sixth first team player to leave the Emirates on a permanent deal this summer, as Arsene Wenger continues to trim his underperforming squad.

Andre Santos, Andrey Arshavin, Denilson, Sebastien Squillaci and Vito Manonne have all also found new clubs in the close season, with Morocco international Marouane Chamakh expected to be next to move on.
