AS Roma are stepping up their efforts to sign Ivorian forward Gervinho from Arsenal, according to Il Corriere dello Sport.
New boss Rudi Garcia is a keen admirer of the player having coached him at Lille and he is hoping to get reunited with the forward at Stadio Olimpico.
According to Il Corriere dello Sport, the Giallorossi sporting director Walter Sabbatini has flown to London to try and wrap up the deal for the 26-year-old.
The two clubs have been in talks for a couple of weeks now, but the latest developments could suggest the agreement is on the horizon.
While Arsenal value the player at €8 million, Roma officials are hoping an offer in the region of €6 million would do the trick, especially seeing as how Gervinho is keen on leaving the Emirates.
The Ivory Coast international has managed 9 goals and as many assists in 46 Premier League appearances for the Gunners.
