Gervinho role in Hazard transfer revealed

Revelations in a new book by Roma coach Rudi Garcia have revealed that former Arsenal forward Gervinho played a role in getting Eden Hazard to sign for Chelsea, the Mirror understands.

The Ivory Coast man, who is currently back with Garcia at Roma, also played under him at Lille where a young Hazard was his teammate.

The manager has revealed that a phone call from fellow Ivorian Didier Drobga to Hazard went through Gervinho a year before the Belgium starlet moved to Stamford Bridge.

The phone was then allegedly passed from Drogba to Chelsea’s billionaire owner Roman Abramovich, and negotiations began.

Hazard has been one of the star performers in the Premier League this season, with his thirteen goals helping Chelsea to the top of the table.

The Blues turn their attention to the FA Cup this weekend, when they will face Manchester City, and Hazard is priced at 17/2 to open the scoring.
