Getafe are considering the possibility of bringing in Brahim Diaz and Carles Alena from Real Madrid and Barcelona, respectively. As relayed by Marca, club president Angel Torres spoke to El Transistor and revealed their thoughts about the two players ahead of the January transfer window.
Alena, 21, has fallen far down the pecking order at Camp Nou, and is head coach Ernesto Valverde’s arguably least favorite option in the middle of the park, with a total of 45 minutes of football played this season squeezed into a single appearance. Every other midfielder has played significantly more. Apart from Getafe, he has been linked with Alaves too.
Diaz, 20, is in a very similar situation at the Santiago Bernabeu. His tally of minutes on the pitch in all competitions this season adds up to a meager 18, albeit spread over two games. As is the case with Alena at Barcelona, it’s by far the least game-time of any midfielder in the squad.
A loan deal seems likely for both of them in January, though Getafe will only make a move if they qualify for the Europa League knockout stages.
Fierce rivals with Real and Barcelona, the pair could soon become teammates at Getafe.
