Ghana held Uruguay to a 2-2 draw in their final group game at the World Youth Championship, to finish in first place in Group D. The Uruguayans come in second.

The two sides had already won their first two games and were certain of qualification, so only the first place in this group was at stake at Ismaïlia stadium.

The first half went by without goals but Ghana started well in the second. Mohammed Rabiu broke the deadlock in the 54th minute and Ransford Osei added a second in minute 70.

Nicolas Lodeiro pulled one back in the 74th minute however and Ghana goalscorer Rabiu picked up a second booking one minute later.

Uruguay took advantage of the situation as Abel Hernandez leveled in the 90th minute to avoid a defeat.

Both teams finish with seven points from three games, but Ghana have the better goal record.
