(GSM) – A lack of clear-cut chances doomed Ghana on Wednesday as they fell 2-1 to Bosnia-Herzegovina in a World Cup preparation friendly.
The Black Stars took the lead on 22 minutes when Sulley Ali Muntari hit a brilliant left-footed drive from 20 yards out inside the right-hand post of goalkeeper Kenan Hasagic.
But Bosnia struck the equalizer in the 40th minute when Edin Dzeko passed in from the left for Vedad Ibisevic, who slid a shot under the arm of Ghana goalkeeper Richard Kingson, who could only get a touch to it.
The home side continued to be in the ascendancy in the second half, and it was 2-1 on 65 minutes when 19-year-old starlet Miralem Pjanic hit a bouncing 25-yard drive beyond substitute goalkeeper Daniel Agyei.
From there, Ghana struggled to control much of the ball, and the Bosnians looked the more likely side to score the next goal.
Ghana’s first Group D match in South Africa comes on 13 June against Serbia in Pretoria.
