Italy midfielder Emanuele Giaccherini is set to sign a deal with Napoli, one of his agents has moved to reveal.
The 31-year-old became a hot commodity after impressing for the Azzurri at the Euro 2016 finals, where he started four games and scored one goal.
And just as Giaccherini had reached an agreement with Torino, an offer from Napoli arrived, and he eventually decided to move to Stadio San Paolo.
His agent Furio Valcareggi has confirmed the deal is all but wrapped up, with his client delighted to be joining the Azzurri.
“It’s all done, the last few details with Sunderland are being ironed out,” his agent Furio Valcareggi told Radio Crc.
“Emanuele is very happy to join Napoli, a great team that will be playing to win. He’s finally getting what he deserves, after being underestimated for years.”
After struggling for playing time at Sunderland, Giaccherini enjoyed a very successful loan spell with Bologna, and he did enough to be included in the Italy Euro 2016 squad despite making just one appearance in the qualifying campaign.
He then performed admirably at the tournament finals, showing great skill and composure to score in the 2-0 triumph over Belgium.
