Gignac cousin joins Grenoble

Veteran defender Jacques Abardonado, the cousin of Olympique Marseille hitman Andre Pierre Gignac, has joined Grenoble from Valencieness FC. The 32 year old leaves Valenciennes after two seasons with the club.

Abardonado, a Marseille youth product, started his career with the French giants and was with them in 2001, when he joined Lorient. A season and 28 league appearances later, he was shipped off to Nice. He made 175 league appearances for Nice before moving to German outfit Nuremberg in the latter half of the 07/08 season. He made a total of twelve appearances for them before returning to France in the 08/09 summer transfer window.
