The agent of Olympique de Marseille striker Andre-Pierre Gignac, Christopher Hutteau, has suggested the player would fit in at Arsenal or Liverpool.
The France international, 28, has started the 2014/15 campaign on scintillating form, having bagged eight goals in eight Ligue 1 appearances for table toppers Marseille.
Both Arsenal and Liverpool could look to bolster their strike-force in January, and it has been suggested Gignac would be a good fit for either club.
The Gunners will be without Olivier Giroud until the new year, while Liverpool are struggling to fire during Daniel Sturridge’s absence despite the summer arrivals of Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert.
Additionally, Marseille are reportedly looking to cut their wage bill, and Gignac could be one of the players sacrificed.
“Given the fact that he is not very old, he has a real market value,” Hutteau told L’Equipe.
“This is a striker with a relatively atypical profile, responsive to the physical challenge, the archetypal player who can succeed at a big club.
“He can play in England, Arsenal or Liverpool , no problem. For me, it is between €12million (£9.5m) and €15million (£11m).”
Pardew wants Tiote stay
Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew is hoping to resolve the contract situation surrounding Cheick Tiote next summer.
Russian Premier League Lokomotiv Moscow made a move for the Côte d’Ivoire international during the summer transfer window, but the offer was not acceptable to the club.
Since joining from FC Twente in a deal worth £3.5 million in 2010, Tiote has established as a first-team regular for both club and country.
The Ivorian’s current deal with the club in set to expire in June 2016, and Pardew is keen to sit down and work out an extension when the time comes.
When asked if Tiote was unsettled by the rumours linking him with a summer move away from Tyneside, Pardew said: “Yes, for sure.
“We obviously had a team fighting for his services, but the finance was never really in place.
“I think his contract situation needs to be resolved at the end of the season, for sure.
“I love him. He’s everything that you want in a Newcastle player.
“He has the quality, and of course you’ll never underestimate the fact that he wants to win.”
Pardew added: “I just love that he’s a winner. It can overcome so many obstacles as a footballer.
“I think young players here need to take a big leaf out of his book in terms of how he approaches training and games.
“Sometimes it can overspill into bookings and sending-offs, but you can never fault him for wanting to win.”
In addition to being a winner, Tiote is married…to two different women. The 28-year-old, who is earning £45,000-a-week at Newcastle, took a second wife in Côte d’Ivoire before the start of the 2014/15 English Premier League season.
He still lives with his first wife Madah and their two children in Ponteland.
