Gignac rejects West Ham

French giants Marseille have revealed striker Andre-Pierre Gignac has rejected a January switch to England.

The experienced forward has been heavily linked with a move to English Premier League, with West Ham reportedly in pole position.

However, even if Marseille were prepared to accept the latest offer from England, the player himself decided to pull the plug on the deal.

“Without giving away any secrets, he (Gignac) has also been, in recent weeks, the subject of a fairly large bid from an English club that he rejected,” Marseille president Vincent Labrune explained to Radio Monte Carlo.

Even with his contract due to expire in June 2015, Gignac doesn’t appear to be interested in moving clubs at the moment, although he is unlikely to remain at Stade Velodrome beyond next season.

Andre-Pierre Gignac joined Marseille from Toulouse in the summer of 2010 and has since bagged 30 goals in 99 league outings for the club.

OM face Evian away in their next league fixture, with the French giants 23/20 to claim maximum points and further improve their league position.
