French daily newspaper L’Equipe has suggested that Marseille have decided not to offer star striker Andre-Pierre Gignac a new deal at Stade Velodrome.
Even if he had been heavily linked with a move away from the club, the towering forward developed into a true leader at OM, with his goals helping the French giants to a great start of the season.
But, even though the 28-year-old is regarded a key member of the squad at Stade Velodrome, he is highly unlikely to be offered a contract extension.
Gignac’s current deal is due to expire at the end of the season, but with the player earning more than €3.6 million gross per campaign, Marseille officials are desperate to get rid of his hefty wage.
And having signed Michy Batshuayi from Standard Liege earlier this summer, OM will not even have to search for a replacement once the France international leaves the club.
