Marseille star Andre-Pierre Gignac has finally revealed that he plans to leave Stade Velodrome at the end of the current campaign.
The highly rated forward will be out of contract in the summer and with his high salary proving a major burden for club’s budget, he is unlikely to sign a new deal.
But, with the striker repeatedly stating his love for OM, many believed that the two sides would be able to find an agreement eventually.
However, it would appear as though Gignac has decided to embark on a new challenge, having confirmed that he plans to quit Marseille at the end of the season.
“I think I’ll leave at the end of the season,” Gignac told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“I’d like to know if Bielsa will stay. But I’m looking for a high level challenge. I’ll examine all proposals carefully.”
Gignac, who leads the Ligue 1 goalscoring charts with 11 strikes, currently pockets around €3.6 million per campaign.
The 28-year-old had a slow start to his career at Stade Velodrome, but has since showed a massive improvement to score 27 goals in last 50 Ligue 1 outings.
