West Ham are lining up a January bid for Genoa striker Alberto Gilardino, Daily Express has revealed.
Even with Andy Carroll returning into action, the Hammers are eager to sign a new striker by the end of the winter transfer window.
And given that their target Lacina Traore is set to snub a move to Boleyn Ground in favour of joining Everton, West Ham seem to have turned their attention to Genoa star Alberto Gilardino.
The experienced striker has been linked with a summer move to Toronto FC, but the MLS side’s interest in the player has cooled off after they agreed to sign Jermain Defoe from Tottenham Hotspur.
Having spent his entire professional career in Italy, Gilardino might be tempted with a switch to English Premier League.
The 31-year-old has been in fine form this season, notching 8 goals in 18 league appearances, and he is 12/5 to score against Inter Milan.
