Gilberto Silva returns to Brazil

Brazilian club Gremio have announced the signing of Gilberto Silva from Panathinaikos.

Former Brazil international has decided to accept an offer from Gremio after ending his contract with Panathinaikos.

The player will sign an 18-month contract subject to passing a medical next week.

“We are delighted with this appointment,” Gremio president Paulo Odone told club’s official website.

“Our commitment is to further strengthen the squad for Gremio to play a major role in the Brazilian championship.”

The 34-year-old spent last three years at Panathinaikos, but has now decided to return to his home land, where he plans to end his career.

Gremio have also announced the signing of Argentine striker Miralles from Colo Colo, who has penned a three-year contract.
