Manchester United chief executive David Gill has hailed Alex Ferguson’s reign at the club, revealing the secrets to the Scot’s longevity.
Ferguson took charge of the Red Devils in 1986 and has helped guide the club to incredible successes, including two Champions League triumphs and 12 English Premier League titles.
Gill said that the enjoyment that the 69-year-old Scot gets out of managing United has been one of the primary reasons to his long tenure in charge, as well as having a top backroom team.
“He loves the job, obviously,” Gill told Goal.com. “He delegates well and he keeps fit. He has got a good team around in terms of the other coaches, medical staff and all those sort of people.”
“He is very much motivated that Manchester United do well and quite rightly concentrates on the big decisions.”
“I think he’s just so enthusiastic that he is driven to see some of the young players out there and (he enjoys) joining in playing with them (in training). So long may it continue.”
