The agent of Villarreal striker Giuseppe Rossi has stated that his client expects to leave El Madrigal this summer.
The Italian forward wants to leave the sinking ship given that Villarreal were relegated to the second division.
However, the player is no longer in high demand seeing that he is still half a year away from making his return from a knee injury.
The player’s representative admits there are currently no offers for the Italian international, but he, nonetheless, believes Rossi will leave El Madrigal this summer.
“I read that Roma (were interested), but sincerely, no one has contacted us,” agent Federico Pastorello said to Sky Sport Italia.
“Meanwhile, there’s nothing in Napoli’s offer either.
“De Laurentiis likes him, as he stated himself, but the operation will take form in the second half of August.”
The 25-year-old was heavily linked with a switch to Juventus last summer, while several other high-profile clubs also expressed interest in the player’s services.
The speculation has subsided following an injury-plagued season and a fresh knee ligament problem, but that could prove to be a blessing in disguise given that Rossi should be available at a cut-back price.
